[Solar-talk] Newbie questions

I've been working through Solar, getting a feel for it. I am completely 
new to the idea of using a framework, so I have a few questions. My 
first question is with regards to the public folder, which I copied into 
my root directory. In the tutorial, it says that I will need to re-copy 
this when I update because I didn't setup a symlink. Should I place my 
css under public/styles/app? I don't see me using any of the style 
sheets that were installed, so I'm curious as to what it should house. 
My other qustion is with regards to applications such as ffmeg and 
mplayer. As far as best practice goes, should I place the folder housing 
these applications straight in the root directory, in the public folder, 
or some other structure? Thanks!
