Thanks for the idea but no such easy luck for me.... :(  Not using  
eAccelerator or any other accelerator or cache. Had xDebug installed  
but removed that as well, just in case. Running a completely clean  
install of php 5.2.5 with only default php modules (mysql, gd, blah  
blah blah). All modules are stable releases apart from PDO which  
technically is still experimental but I can't see how that would  
interfere... Here is a bit more about my system set up, just in case  
it gives some one an idea:

SolarPHP	svn rev 3136
PHP		5.2.5 (no 3rd party accelerator or caches)
Apache	2.2.8	
System	Mac OS X - Leopard
