[Solar-talk] Solar as component framework vs. PRADO

Heya Paul...

Clay and I were discussing this topic and he suggested I post here to
solicit your opinion (and the rest of the Solar community who may be
knowledgeable in this area, for that matter).

So, I've been hunting for a good php5 component framework to port our widget
system to, which is currently based on asp.net. The model I'm shooting for
is _very_ similar to what is outlined here on the PRADO site:
http://www.pradosoft.com/wiki/index.php/Creating_your_first_PRADO_application

Clay suggested that perhaps Solar, with its view helpers, may be able to
achieve this type of model. I want to completely separate markup from
behavior (absolutely no code in the templates for the components - I also
looked a bit at Savant which is a bit of a hybrid in that it still mixes
<?php blocks in with the markup)... and the event model provided by PRADO is
just perfect, where in that example you can see the server side for that
page listening to the button component's click event and setting the Text
property which generates the appropriate markup for that part of the page.

What are your thoughts on that model, and any provisions Solar may have for
achieving that?

Thanks as always!
